Government and its employees are inseparable: CM Rosaiah

(From Our Correspondent)
Hyderabad: “Employees retire at the age of 58. But, there is no such retirement for politicians. I will continue in public service until my body co-operates. Starting my political career as an ordinary activist in 1951, I reached my current position only with the blessings and co-operation of people. I will continue in public service as long as my body co-operates and render my services with a greater dedication and devotion” said K. Rosaiah, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, participating as the chief guest in the silver jubilee celebrations of Andhra Pradesh State Government Retired Employees Association, held on 5th April, at Prakasam Hall, Gandhi Bhavan, Hyderabad.
Unveiling the souvenir of the association, Rosaiah said “No government can provide the good governance without the co-operation of government employees. The relationship between the government and its employees is inseparable. I firmly believe that Government too must take an active step to provide infrastructure to employees. No government can reach the public without the co-operation of its employees. We take every necessary step to solve the problems of government employees. Though State Government has several financial problems and constraints, we issued a GO recently to increase fitment to government employees by 39%. No earlier government has taken such a measure as our Congress government did. We have recently formed a committee consisting 3 members in order to fulfill the promises that the government made in PRC issue”.
The Chief Minister, however, admitted that there are some problems in solving some issues like medical reimbursement of retired employees. “There will be always a small section of selfish people, who ignore their responsibilities and act irresponsibly. Similarly in government sector too, there may be 4 to 5 percent employees who act with selfish motive” added the Chief Minister. He appreciated some government employees who came forward to render their services even after their retirement and he said that he would consider the issue of utilizing the services of such retired employees in their domain itself.
Addressing the meeting, A. Ramulu, president of state association, said “In 1983, the then Telugu Desam government has taken a mindless and unjustified decision to reduce the retirement age from 58 to 55. We established our present association as resentment against the GO and to protect our rights. Nadenla Bhaskara Rao, the next chief minister, again increased the retirement age to 58. But, this joy did not continue for a longer period as NTR, who came back to power again, decreased the age limit to 55, by violating the welfare of state government employees. Chandrababu Naidu too harassed the government employees and hence, he was taught a fitting lesson in 2004 general elections. It is only Congress government that strives for the welfare of government employees and the fact has been proved several times. Currently, we have 4.5 lakh members in our organization and we strive for ever for the protection of the benefits of employees”.
Delivering his lecture, P.Sudhakar Reddy, Member of Legislative Council, demanded that the government must issue “Premium less Health Insurance Cards” to pensioners. Speaking in the meeting, Gopal Reddy, Chairman of JAC, assured the pensioners that he would extend all possible help and co-operation to the pensioners in solving their problems.
This meeting is participated by R. Viswas Reddy, the vice president of the association, B. Krishnaiah, General Secretary, G. Sambashiva Rao, the treasurer, B. Satyanarayana and other members of state and district committees.  The association has felicitated several senior pensioners during the celebrations.
